The "Vlast Truda" Plywood Plant took the initiative to revive the traditional nationwide rally crosses which had been held in the former Soviet Union on the "Zolotoy Kolos" closed racing circle in Nizhny Lomov. To restore the popular auto racing events, the pant administration sponsored the project from provision of the facilities necessary to open the racing circle to forming a team of drivers. At first, the drivers representing the plant were not taken by rallycross aces seriously as racers they even were nicknamed "the plywood pilots". But soon the racers of Nizhny Lomov showed their persistence and dispelled the experts' doubts. It did not take them much time to outscore the leading racers.
